Don Jarvis, Ph.D.

Founder & President, GlycoBac LLC

Don Jarvis is a Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Wyoming and President of GlycoBac,
LLC, which was spun-out to translate his academic lab group’s basic research in the baculovirus-insect cell
system. Don’s research has focused on protein processing, particularly protein glycosylation pathways in
this system, since 1987. Don’s early research yielded information and tools that can be and have been
used to humanize protein glycosylation pathways in the baculovirus-insect cell system. More recently,
Don’s efforts have addressed another key deficiency in the baculovirus-insect cell system, which is
commonly used insect cell lines are contaminated with adventitious viruses. These efforts yielded virus-free
insect cell lines that are now being assessed as improved hosts for biologics manufacturing and used to
detect adventitious viral contaminants and validate bioprocessing methods.
